Hosting a DayZ server

The below instructions are mostly obsolete now.

Major caveat .. check if your ISP allows this activity! It might be blocked higher up in their network.

Your game server machine should have a local network IP address like 192.168.x.x

  • Outline Guide November 2023
  • Hosting a DayZ server on a domestic broadband connection or ec2 instance, the ports you need are
    • Game Port: 2302 UDP (configured in start.bat)
    • Query Port: 27016 UDP (game)
  • If you have connection problems after starting the server, you may also need to enable the following ports:
    • Reserved Port: 2303 UDP (game)
    • BattlEye Port: 2304 UDP (battleye!)
    • RCON Port: 2305 UDP (server browser)
  • First: Install, start and check the logs of the game server (Windows or Linux). Make sure it's actually running.
  • Second: Open the ports shown above in the firewall of your server machine. You should now be able to connect and play on the server through the LAN tab on the server browser.
  • Third: Open the ports shown above on your broadband router, forwarding connections for the ports shown above to your game server machine IP address. Note they are all UDP
  • You should now see your server listed in the community tab of the server browser.
